Xbox Live Game of the Week: Final Fantasy

It’s Wednesday and do you know what that means? A new Xbox Live Game of the Week is out for Windows Phone!

This week’s new Xbox Live game is Final Fantasy by Square Enix. We don’t think this game really needs an introduction, but in case you’re a newborn baby we’ll fill you in anyway. This is the original role-playing game created for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) back in 1987. Now 25 years later, the mobile remake has been ported to Windows Phone featuring redesigned graphics for modern gaming and included dungeons that weren’t found in the original.

Plus since this is an Xbox Live-enabled game, it actually has achievements as well as a free trial (which you should consider before paying that sticker-shocking full price). One more quick heads-up: the game is a sizeable 90 MB so you’ll have to download it over Wi-Fi. Here is the official description of the game:

Initially released in Japan in 1987, the original FINAL FANTASY amazed audiences with its rich story and stunning graphics.

Players guide the Warriors of Light as they set out on a quest to restore the crystals to their former luster. Its side view battles, choice and promotion of character classes, and sprawling world explored with fantastic vehicles quickly became standards of the series. This game set the stage for all FINAL FANTASY games to come.

This edition also contains the bonus dungeons added to later editions of the game–the Soul of Chaos and the Labyrinth of Time.

Final Fantasy is available in the Marketplace for $6.99 along with the standard free trial.
