Activision releases official Call of Duty: Ghosts companion app for Windows Phone 8

One of the hottest new games of the year landed on consoles last week. Call of Duty: Ghosts has predictably been met with positive praise and a ton of money from eager gamers. If you’re already knee deep into the addictive multiplayer side of the game, there’s now another way you can get your fix of Ghosts while you’re on the go — Activision has released an official companion app for Windows Phone 8.

Similar to last year’s release of the ELITE app when Black Ops II launched, Activision has published an app in the Windows Phone Store simply called Call of Duty. The download ties into the new blockbuster title’s multiplayer features, specifically the Clans prominently featured in the game.

You can use the app to manage aspects of your clan like creating a custom emblem or chatting with other clan members. Challenge others to Clan Wars in the app to earn in-game XP and unlock new customization options. As a bonus, you can also customize your loadouts for your classes, meaning you can equip and customize a new weapon before you sit down and turn on your console.

It looks as though the app is hit or miss for a lot of people. The reliability issues have hurt the overall score of the app, but there are some who are reporting success so give it a shot if you’ve already picked up Ghosts (or keep it in mind when you pick up your copy for that shiny new Xbox One, right?).
